What is The Internet?
The Internet, in simplest terms, is the large group of millions of computers around the world that are all connected to one another. These computers are connected by phone lines, fiber optic lines, coaxial cable, satellites, and wireless connections. Internet; World Wide Web; Learning; Search Engines; Trusting the Internet . . . The Internet, including the World Wide Web, is perhaps the single most important invention to impact on elementary, secondary, and higher education in today's world. If parents are to understand how their children use technologies for learning,The Internet is not governed by any official body, but there are organizations which work to make the Internet more accessible and useful. ] . . . The World Wide Web is not the only application for the Internet. Access to the Internet is a well-defined term, and is what cable and fiber based companies offer today for a monthly subscription fee. The Internet itself an all-encompassing term, which means best efforts delivery of packets to every reachable destination on the Internet. The Internet is a global network of computers. Every computer that is connected to the Internet is considered a part of that network. This means even your home computer. It's all a matter of degrees, you connect to your ISP's network, then your ISP connects to a larger network and so on. The Internet isn't just about data; it is an international community of people who share information, interact, and communicate. From the point of view of its users, the Internet is a vast collection of resources--people, information, and multimedia. Nobody "owns" the Internet - although there are companies that help manage different parts of the networks that tie everything together, there is no single governing body that controls what happens on the Internet. What makes the Internet so incredible is that users communicate from many types, makes, and models of computers. They use software which provides a common set of networking standards (protocols) and allow the computers to function and communicate through the network. As important as it is to understand how information travels from one computer to another across the Internet, it is equally important (if not more so) to understand what happens to the Internet traffic when it gets closer to home. The Internet was created in 1969 for the United States Department of Defense. The Internet is essentially a large group of computers that have been interlinked and are capable of sharing vast amounts of information.

The research push that led to the development of the Internet can be dated back to the launch of the Sputnik satellite by the Soviet Union in 1957. Under the intellectual and administrative framework of the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA), the first network of four computers was developed in 1969. - the majority of Internet users either are or will be professionals with disposible income. Usage in this target segment is expected to continue to grow. . . . - a simple Web page can allow you to take orders through the Internet. . . . - the Internet serves clients 24 hours a day, seven days a week, with no long distance charges. Case 1: Internet drug sales are ridiculously easy (see "spam" above), so easy that every decent men's magazine did an "I ordered Viagra off the Internet" story by 2005. But that means irresponsible doctors can prescribe dangerous drugs, such as this 2002 case of deadly drugs sold online, or this case of a doctor. . . Political theorists have gone so far as to say that individuals or groups who understand the internet can manipulate governmental actions and could even cause a revolution by the using the internet's resources. This action of manipulating the government is done in various ways by using the internet. Stop employees from spending time surfing the Internet at Web Blockade . . . Do your employees spend time surfing the Internet at work? ; The small and small to medium companies have the same issues and needs with respect to Internet and web access that face large companies and conglomerates.
